Descriptions
All of our crushed stone products come from the same quarry which is located near our sales yard. The material is a granitic “gneiss”, is mostly gray with some green and black in color, and is the hardest of its type in the upstate of SC.
The SCDOT usually uses ASTM/AASHTO specifications and names. Inman Stone sells Macadam Base/Crusher Run, ASTM #5/56/57, ASTM #7, 0.5” Asphalt Sand, and Screenings. Each product is described in detail here.
Macadam Base/Crusher Run is used primarily under roadways and for driveways. It is usually 1.5” material all the way down to dust. For most applications, a depth of 4”-6” will provide years of service.
#5/#56/#57 is a clean stone with less than 5% dust. Its top size is approximately 1.25” and its bottom size is approximately 0.375” material with a uniform gradation of sizes between the two ends of the specifications. This material is useful for drainage such as septic tank lines and French drains.
#7 is a clean stone composed mostly of 0.5” and 0.375” material. It will also drain and makes an excellent “country estate” looking driveway if applied thinly on top of an established base of crusher run. Other uses include walkways, playground covering, and cemetery plot coverings.
Asphalt Sand/Screenings is used for the production of surface mix asphalt and for backfilling walls and under slabs. It is 0.5″ material down to dust in size.
Inman Stone delivers or can arrange delivery for all our products. Delivery fees are based on quantity purchased and mileage from the quarry to the delivery destination.
We can also calculate quantities needed and make recommendations on which products are most suited for the application.
Our sand division has C33 graded river sand available for purchase and delivery too.
